EVERY ROLEX GMT MASTER II BEZEL COLOUR AND THE BEST STRAP TO PAIR IT WITH

The Rolex GMT Master II has been one of Rolex’s most colourful watches. Rolex tends to remain very strict and traditional when it comes down to their designs. However, the GMT is an exception thanks to it bi-colour bezel design which instantly adds a pop of colour. If ever there was a Rolex to wear with a ZEALANDE rubber strap it would be this as you can really play around with different looks. There are endless combinations you can choose from but some coloured straps pair better with certain GMT Master II models. Black and white straps will always match with all of them perfectly but for those wanting something a bit special, there are definitely those that pair better than some. So, today we are going to take a look at some of the best ZEALANDE rubber strap combinations for each GMT Master II.

The Rolex GMT‑Master II is one of the most recognisable sports watches ever produced, largely because of its rotating 24-hour bezel. Over the decades, Rolex has used colour not just for aesthetics but also for identity, giving each bezel variant its own nickname and personality. Pairing these watches with a ZEALANDE rubber strap introduces a modern, sport-luxury twist, combining the heritage of the GMT with contemporary comfort. ZEALANDE’s use of vulcanised FKM rubber, known for durability, flexibility, and resistance to heat and UV, makes it particularly well suited for daily wear and travel watches like the GMT-Master II.

The most iconic of all is the “Pepsi” bezel, defined by its red and blue colour split. Originally designed to distinguish day from night hours, the combination has become synonymous with the GMT line. When pairing a ZEALANDE strap with a Pepsi, the best choice is a matching blue or a red-accented strap. A blue rubber strap echoes the cooler half of the bezel and creates a cohesive, sporty look, while a red option makes the watch feel bolder and more expressive. For those who prefer balance, ZEALANDE even offers dual-tone options inspired directly by the Pepsi palette, maintaining the watch’s heritage while enhancing its casual versatility.

Next is the “Batman” or “Batgirl,” (depending on if it originally came with a jubilee or oyster bracelet) characterised by its black and blue ceramic bezel. This model leans more modern and slightly more understated than the Pepsi. The best ZEALANDE pairing here is a black rubber strap with subtle blue accents or stitching. A full black strap emphasises the stealthy half of the bezel, giving the watch a sleek, almost monochromatic feel, while a blue strap can bring out the vibrant portion of the ceramic insert. Because the Batman already balances sport and elegance, a fitted rubber strap enhances its everyday wearability without compromising its refined aesthetic.

The “Rootbeer” GMT-Master II, with its brown and black bezel and typically two-tone case, offers a completely different character. It is warmer, more luxurious, and slightly vintage in tone. The ideal ZEALANDE strap here is a rich brown or even a khaki-toned rubber option. Brown rubber complements the Everose gold and the bezel’s earthy hues, creating a cohesive and upscale look. This pairing feels less overtly sporty and more like a relaxed luxury statement, perfect for those who want comfort without losing the watch’s distinctive warmth.

The all-black bezel GMT-Master II, often seen as the most understated version, opens the door to the widest range of strap options. A classic black ZEALANDE strap is the most natural pairing, reinforcing the watch’s minimalist and tool-watch identity. However, this is also the variant where experimentation works best. Green would pair nicely with the green coloured seconds hand but equally an orange or even white rubber strap can completely transform the watch’s personality. These colours can easily turn it from a conservative travel watch into a bold, casual piece. ZEALANDE’s range of colours allows owners to adapt the watch to different settings while maintaining a precise, integrated fit with the case.

One of the newest additions is the black and grey bezel, often nicknamed the “Bruce Wayne” or “Guinness”. This subtle two-tone ceramic insert is arguably the most refined GMT-Master II to date. It lacks the loudness of earlier models and instead focuses on monochromatic elegance making it easy to wear with pretty much any outfit you can think of. For this watch, a grey ZEALANDE strap is the standout choice, as it mirrors the bezel and creates a seamless, tonal look. Alternatively, a black strap keeps things classic and sharp. The key with this model is restraint, muted colours enhance its sophisticated identity rather than overpower it.

Finally, the green and black bezel, commonly known as the “Sprite,” introduces a fresh and slightly unconventional colourway. Its green half adds a vibrant twist to the GMT formula, making it one of the most playful modern Rolex designs. The best ZEALANDE pairing here is undoubtedly a green rubber strap, which amplifies the bezel’s standout feature and creates a cohesive, energetic look. For a more subtle approach, black remains a safe option, toning down the watch while still letting the green bezel shine.

Across all these variations, what makes ZEALANDE straps particularly appealing is their ability to transform the GMT-Master II without compromising its integrity. Designed to fit seamlessly with the case and compatible with original clasps, they provide a factory-like integration while offering a completely different wearing experience. The lightweight nature of FKM rubber reduces wrist fatigue and enhances comfort, especially in warm climates or during travel, which aligns perfectly with the GMT’s purpose as a global companion.

Ultimately, each bezel colour of the GMT-Master II has its own personality, and the right ZEALANDE rubber strap helps emphasise that narrative. Whether it’s the bold heritage of the Pepsi, the modern cool of the Batman, the warmth of the Rootbeer, the minimalism of the all-black, the refinement of the black and grey, or the vibrancy of the green and black, the pairing of bezel and strap allows owners to personalise their watch in a way that feels both intentional and distinctive.
