Tag Heuer has been heavily involved in motorsport since the early days of the brand's watchmaking debut. The watch that really stands out and could even be their most famous model is the Tag Heuer Monaco. Named after a Formula One race that’s so popular it attracts every celebrity possible, it is long overdue that Tag Heuer gives us all a new model. Over the last few years they have slowly done so but quietly, since 2023 we have had 4 key releases with one being an incredible and very limited masterpiece. So, we thought it would be a great idea to take a look at them and see what’s new.

Starting off with the older model, back in 2023 Tag Heuer brought their skeleton style to the Monaco which resulted in the first-ever skeletonized dial within the Monaco collection. Not only that, the case was made from a lightweight Grade 2 titanium case, available in either matte-grey and blue or black DLC with turquoise accents. Tag Heuer really does love to test new materials out and you would be surprised just how much of a different look the same watch can have if made from another metal. Ticking away inside this model we have the in-house Heuer 02 automatic calibre beating at 4 Hz, allowing for an 80-hour power reserve.

The rise of the skeleton dial in 2023

Next up we have the model that sets itself many kilometres apart from all the other Monaco’s. The Monaco Split‑Seconds Chronograph “Texturised Titanium” debuted at Watches & Wonders 2024, evolving from a 2023 Only Watch prototype, into full production. The case is 41 mm and made from a very rare material, proprietary TH‑Titanium alloy with a distinctive camo‑like textured finish. However, the masterpiece of art work is what’s powering this one, the calibre TH81‑00, historical for being Tag Heuer’s lightest automatic split‑seconds movement, crafted in titanium, beating at 36,000 vph. This gives up a total power reserve of 65‑h and what’s more, the movement alone weighs just 30 grams. Thankfully the lightweight material of the case avoids the watch being too heavy with its total weight coming in at around 86 g. The skeletonized dial with neon‑lime accents enhance legibility all whilst giving it that sporty flair, no Monaco really competed with this one…especially its price tag of CHF 145,000!

Just one year later and we are in luck again because in 2025 we are given two new Monaco’s. Both of them are a limited edition with only 970 being produced, this is called their Stopwatch Chronograph. With Tag Heuer being so connected to motorsports they wanted to re-create that theme even more so in this new model. Inspired by 1960s–70s Heuer pit‑lane stopwatches, this 39 mm DLC‑titanium version combines retro cues with modern mechanics, everything you could dream of in a modern-day Tag Heuer. It features a classic layout with a red minute track, circular black dial set on silver opaline background with high-contrast subdials and a red lacquer chronograph hand. Small details but they all add up to create this beautiful model. Powered by flagship Calibre 11, with its crown on the left, the movement here offers us around 42 hours of power reserve.

The rise of the skeleton dial in 2023

Finally, their second Monaco to be released in 2025 is their Monaco Chronograph x Gulf Edition. This model celebrates Tag Heuer’s partnership with the Monaco Grand Prix and evokes Steve McQueen’s iconic Gulf-liveried Monaco from Le Mans from 1971. For those who have a taste for smaller watches, you will be very happy as this one comes in at 39 mm in a sandblasted titanium case. The crisp white dial has the iconic Gulf racing stripes down the right-hand side and features a matching white leather strap with orange stitching. Just like the other model, it too houses the calibre 11 with the crown on the left-hand side of the case. This model is also limited to just 971 pieces making it likely more sought after by any motorsport fans.

And there you have it, a quick look at some of the new Tag Heuer Monaco models they have released since 2023. Compared to their other lines like the Carrera or Aqua Racer, the Monaco has not had many new models introduced, however all of their new ones are nothing shy of phenomenal. It is also interesting to Tag Heuer using new materials for all their Monaco and creating two new ones but only in limited editions. With Tag Heuer being the new official timekeeper for Formula one we can see they are giving more attention to their most famous racing watch. This is by no means a bad thing as the Tag Heuer Monaco is famous for all the right reasons and it’s exciting seeing where they take the collection and what’s next in the future.
