The bolder hour markers against their classic gloss dial gives the whole feel of the watch a more aggressive tool watch look compared to the Diver 300M. Both can be worn in casual settings no problem, jeans or shorts paired with a t-shirt or polo top is a perfect match for them. However, for those wanting to wear the watch in a more dressy scenario with a shirt, thanks to the slimmer case profile of the Diver 300M it would be able to do so easier than the Seamaster Planet Ocean.

When it comes to the movement you are now beginning to split hairs since it’s that close. Both watches house Omega’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer movements, certified by METAS for precision, anti-magnetism, and reliability. However, there are a few small differences that you can notice, the Seamaster Diver 300M uses the Calibre 8800 whilst the Planet Ocean uses the Calibre 8900. The calibre 8900 adds a bit more technical refinement, including a dual barrel for longer power reserve which gives you a total of 60 hours compared to the 50 hours found in the 8800. You can argue that the Planet Ocean nudges ahead here, especially for enthusiasts who appreciate technical superiority or who rotate their watches frequently and therefore need more power reserve capacity.

The last element of performance to measure, especially for a dive watch, is their water resistance. The Diver 300M is water-resistant to 300 meters and the Planet Ocean a whopping 600 meters! Both far exceed the needs of everyday wear and even recreational diving, but if you're frequently in extreme aquatic environments, the extra robustness of the Planet Ocean is noteworthy. The Planet Ocean is better for hardcore divers, though the Diver 300M is more than sufficient for everyday use and for those who enjoy jumping into a pool on holiday in Summer!
