THE DIFFERENT OMEGA SEAMASTER BRACELETS COMPARED TO RUBBER

Omega’s Seamaster collection is up there when it comes to the most iconic watches ever made. Whether it’s the classic James Bond Seamaster Diver 300 M or the shiny Aquas Terra, either way their watch designs are very recognisable. What makes them so distinctive is obviously their case, but also their bracelet. Within the Omega Seamaster range there are quite a few different types of bracelets you can have. Seeing as the bracelet makes a big difference to the wearing experience we thought it would be a good idea to explore the different bracelets Omega Seamasters come with and how they compare to a rubber strap.

There are four main different bracelets to choose from and each type has several variations. You have got the Aqua Terra’s polished bracelet, the Seamaster Diver 300 M tank tread bracelet and the Planet Ocean’s one along with the Seamaster 300’s. Each one is quite different to each other so we will start in order and work our way through them all and see what they are like at the end compared to a rubber strap.

The Aqua Terra, being the dressier option of all the Seamasters, has a three-link design with polished centre links. The butterfly clasp system helps the bracelet sit nice and flush against your wrist which makes it sliding under a shirt’s cuff nice and easy. The slight taper from 20 to 18 mm, however there is no quick adjustment system offered. Omega redesigned the bracelet for the newer Aqua Terra bracelets released on the colourful models and for the 30 and 34 mm models it has a quick adjustment system but not for the larger ones. Whilst the newer one still features polished centre links, because the bracelet is made in more oval sections compared to the older model which was flat, it means less metal will be in contact with surfaces. In theory, this means you will not see scratches as much due to less metal being able to be scratched away.

There are not many bracelets as famous as that of the Seamaster Diver 300 M. It features a non-tapering five-link construction, three brushed outer links and two narrower polished centre links, giving the bracelet both texture and visual depth, while seamlessly transitioning into the case for a strong wrist presence and an elegant finish. The clasp is a deployment type, which folds flat and provides a secure closure, along with a diver’s extension and a glidelock system. This means you can easily wear it over a wetsuit to go diving or as a daily watch and require just a few millimetres of adjustments. The finish of brushed and polished surfaces ensures that the bracelet will show wear less and maintain a high-end appearance throughout regular use.

However, for those who find the bracelet too heavy, you can opt for their mesh bracelet with a fold over clasp. Rather than a conventional solid-link bracelet, this design uses tightly woven stainless-steel or titanium wires to form a “Milanese” or mesh pattern that drapes smoothly around the wrist, offering both comfort and a slightly dressier appearance. This tapers from 20 down to 18 mm which makes it an excellent alternative.

The less well-known model in the Seamaster collection yet it may just have the perfect bracelet of them all. Starting at 21 mm wide end-links at the lugs and then tapering down toward the clasp at 16 mm, this model offers a very elegant wearing experience. The links themselves have a polished outer face and brushed inner face, the opposite of the Aqua Terra’s, which gives the bracelet a refined contrast that catches light without being overly flashy. A key practical feature is the integrated micro-adjustment within the clasp, it allows the wearer to slide the locking section in three positions over about 3.8 mm of adjustment, making adjustments nice and easy. The clasp design is clean and low-profile, preserving the sleek lines of the watch while providing secure closure. On top of this, the bracelet’s end-links have been shaped to sit flush with the case, improving the ergonomic fit and the longevity of the watch’s everyday wear. From a comfort and wearability standpoint, the combination of tapering, articulation of the links, and micro-adjustment means that the bracelet manages to bridge the gap between a robust diver’s watch and a piece that wears well on the wrist in less extreme settings.

Planet Ocean being their most capable dive watch, able to go down to 600 meters, the bracelet really reflects this. Like the others, it comes on a three-link bracelet however this one is fluffy brushed and offers an elegant taper. As you would expect, the clasp has a diver’s extension and glidelock system but what makes it interesting is it’s sleeker than the Diver 300 M’s. For such an impressive diver watch it really wears elegantly on the wrist thanks to its tapering bracelet and slimmer clasp.

But the question still remains, how do these bracelets compare to rubber?
